There seems to be a default font for entering comments to a cell. I want to
change this to a larger font (currently it is 8 which is too small). Can you
please tell me how to do it.

For the font *size*, you could try this (It's a windows setting)

Right-click on any empty space in the desktop choose Properties

Select Appearance tab Advanced button
(in Win XP)

In the Advanced Appearance dialog:
Click on "Item" dropdown menu choose Tooltip
Choose a font size OK Apply
