Default Don't Allow Two Instances of Excel

How do I prevent Excel 2007 from opening a second instance? I have a
program that downloads info as an Excel workbook, and it has started opening
up a second instance of Excel, and I don't want it to. I want all workbooks
running off one instance of Excel.

Just in case it isn't a second instance [you can check this within the 'Task
Manager' 'Process tab ,sort the list by clicking the 'Process Name' header]
If only one process of Excel appears - then:
Click the main Office button 'Excel Options...' 'Advanced' 'Display'
UNTICK 'Show all windows in the Taskbar'.
[If it does not resolves the problem - then under 'General' try to UNTICK
'Ignore other applications']

Thanks, unticking "Show all windows in the Taskbar" worked.
