My problem involves the options row height and wrap text using Excel. I have
published a book of quotations distributed free on the internet. As I add quotes I republish and am now up to the 5th edition. Ideally, I should be able to add new quotes as I accumulate them and then when I have enough to warrant a new edition simply sort the three columns by the authors last name, the authors full name, and the first word of the quote in that order. The reader sees the quote column and the authors full name; the last name column is hidden. For one-line quotes with a one-line authors names I use a 22 pixel (0.18 in) row height. For multi-line quotes or multi-line authors names, that row height value should expand in multiples of 0.18 with wrap text to accommodate the number of lines in the quote or the authors name whichever is larger. Unfortunately, that doesnt always happen. Often after the sort, a long quote moves into a cell formerly occupied by a small one and the cell height doesnt enlarge enough to accommodate it. Conversely, when a short quote is sorted into a large cell it sometimes doesnt fully close down to the proper height. Both of these errors happen inconsistently. Does anyone have a solution? |
