Adding saving a d deleting files is handled by your operrating system. XL has
no hand in it other than making requests to the OS to add or save a file. So when the file is deleted XL has no knowledge that the file is gone. If you want to clean up the history you can go to Tools | Optons General and uncheck Recently used file list: and select OK Recheck it again and the list will be there again but empty. -- HTH...
