Resize cell to fit picture
Previously when I inserted a picture into an Excel cell, the cell would
automatically resize to fit the picture. Then I changed the option in Size and Properties to 'Move but don't size with cells' and now the picture just floats above the cell. The problem is I can't change it back to the way it was before. Selecting the option 'Move and resize with cells makes not difference to what happens when pictures are inserted. How do I get the cell to resize to fit the picture when I insert it (as it used to do)? I'm using Excel 2007 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2. |

Resize cell to fit picture
I have never heard of this feature of a cell resizing to fit an image
How were you "inserting" an image into a cell in previous version that would make the cell resize to fit the image? Resize cell to fit picture
I selected the 'Insert' tab on the ribbon at the top and then selected
'Picture' (this was in Excel 2007, not a previous version). I still have pictures inserted previously in the spreadsheet where the height of the cell expanded automatically to accommodate the picture, but that doesn't happen anymore and I can't find a way to change the default picture insert behaviour back to what it was before. To the best of my memory, the original setting in "Size and Properties" was to 'Move and Size with cells'. But now when I insert a picture, it always inserts with the option 'Move but don't size with cells' pre-selected and the cell does not change to accommodate the picture. I don't recall changing any other settings. I'd appreciate any help with getting it back to he way it was. Would re-installing Excel return it to the default settings? Resize cell to fit picture
I would not bother re-installing Excel.
There has never been an Excel default setting to automatically size a cell when a picture is inserted into a worksheet. Pictures do not reside in cells.............they only float on top of cells. If you were able to do in previous versions what you say, it must have been done through code.
