Default Excel viewer can't use dropdown menus??

At work, we have a very large formula workbook consisting of many sheets.
This file should only be editable by our CEO. We're using Excel 2007 and
Excel Viewer 2007.

One of the pages, our "prep transfer form" has a dropdown menu and multiple
formulas are calculated by the value selected from the dropdown. Locking this
workbook is a huge hassle, since it has almost 100 sheets (I can write a
macro, but what if the password is forgotten?) Besides that, everyone else
should only have read-only access. We had planned to only install excel
viewer on the employee computers so that all they could do is view and print
the workbook, but apparently excel viewer doesn't allow you to select a value
from a dropdown. I really wish this functionality existed-- without it, excel
viewer can't view all of the information in the file. It only shows the first
value in the dropdown.

im not sure on this but Im guessing that the drop down in question is an
active x type combo box that I would not suspect excell viewer to support
however i would expect excell viewer to support a data validation type drop
down! If you can change the drop down box then you could be onto a winner!
possibly!

The dropdown is a typical data validation dropdown, not an activex one.
Everything was created using excel. There are no macros or 3rd party software
involved. I really cannot believe that excel viewer wont support this.
