Default Paste without overwriting formulas

I have a balance sheet set up in Excel. I copy a column of numbers from an
export of another software. The export has totals that when copied into
Excel are a number. I want to copy this column of numbers over to my balance
sheet, which works great, but I would like to keep my subtotals in my balance
sheet spreadsheet to be formulas and not overwritten with the totals from the
export.

I have tried locking and protecting, but that just makes it so I can't copy
the column of numbers over. I know I could do it in pieces to avoid the
formulas, but am wondering if there is an easy way to set it up so I can
still copy all at once, but have it "jump over" the formulas.

Thanks,
PJ

You can use a new worksheet to paste the column from your other software.
Then in your balance sheet, add references to this new spreadsheet only for
the cells you want to update, and leave your calculations in place for the
other cells.
