Default array not working

Works OK for me.

Did you enter the formula as an array?

The formula should look like this:

{=G5:G25-F5:F25}

Select the range H5:H25

Type the formula but *don't* hit Enter. Instead, hold down both the CTRL key
and the SHIFT key THEN hit Enter. When done properly Excel will enclose the
formula in those squiggly brackets as above. You can't just type these
brackets in. You *must* use the key combo to generate them.
