Formulas
Is there a way to lock formulas in a worksheet so that users may enter data
but cannot accidently mess up the calculations needed for the form created? |

Formulas
1. un-lock cells containing data to be supplied
2. lock cells containing formulae to be protected 3. protect the worksheet -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200907 "Lisa" wrote: Is there a way to lock formulas in a worksheet so that users may enter data but cannot accidently mess up the calculations needed for the form created? |

Formulas
Each cell can be locked or unlocked.
(Format|Cells|Protection tab in xl2003 menus) But that "lockedness" doesn't really do much until you protect the sheet. (tools|protection|protect sheet in xl2003 menus) So you can lock/unlock the cells you want, then protect the sheet. (Lock the cells with formulas and headers/descriptions/... and unlock the cells that the user should be able to change.) Be aware that worksheet protection is easily broken. And you may want to test it before you release the workbook to others. There are lots of things that can't be done on a protected worksheet. By default all cells in a worksheet are locked when sheet protection is
enabled. It is up to you to decide which are to be locked or unlocked when the sheet is protected. FormatCellsProtection is where you would change the "locked" or "unlocked" status. Select all cells and unlock them. Select the cells to be locked and lock them Then ToolsProtectProtect Sheet.......add a password. Note the selectable options under "allow users to" when protecting.
