Default What should kurtosis equal for a normal distribution?

I thought that kurtosis should equal 3 for normal distributions, but is seems
as though Excel has it equaling zero. I am thinking correctly?

Depends on your definition of kurtosis.
Some definitions subtract 3 to produce a parameter sometimes called "excess
kurtosis".
See http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handb...on3/eda35b.htm and
countless other sources.
