Hi there!
I am using Excel 2007 Enterprise SP2 on a Win XP Pro machine. I have an Excel file comprising about 1.7Mb spread over several pages. This file takes up to 25 seconds to save whenever changes have been made since the previous save, and about 4-5 seconds when no changes have been made. While my PC is not a speed demon, it is also by no means a slouch either - all other programs run fine. Task Manager shows Excel as using 50% of the available processing power during these saves. I am NOT new to PC hardware, operating systems nor Excel - and these save times are extremely unusual, not to mention annoying. I have disabled all anti-virus scanning, etc to no avail. What else can I look at to try to speed things up a little? 25+ seconds to save a 1.7Mb file to my local hard drive is unacceptable. -- Philip |

Hi Don
Thanks for your kind offer. I have some named ranges, and 1 link to another file. The external link is necessary, but I will prune the named ranges as soon as I have the chance, and see if that helps. If not, I will possibly take you up on your offer. Thanks again! -- Philip |
