Default cell contents truncated

Everytime I try to copy a cell to another spreadsheet, if the cell is too
large, only 255 characters were copied. Anyone knows how to fix it?

Make sure that both workbooks are open in the same instance of excel.

Close one instance and use File|Open (or the xl2007 equivalent) to open it in
the still running instance.
