Default sum by dates-Excell 2003

I have a spread sheet with dates in column "A" and numbers in column "B". I
would like to sum part of column B based on dates in column A (by quarters,
Jan-March, April-June, etc...)

Can anyone tell me if it can be done in Excell 2003?
