Default How do I change default number format?

For some reason, every number that I enter in a certain workbook defaults to
Puerto Rican dollars, rather than the general number format. When I remove
formats on a cell, the cell also becomes Puerto Rican dollars. How do I
revert back to the standard unformatted input?

Default How do I change default number format?

hi dwayne1017,

it seems that the entire workbook on which u r working has been formatted as
currency . first, select the cells u want to give input, format them as
numbers (with or without decimals) and then re-enter the data (because
entering the text first and then chaning the format of cell/s does not work
properly in excel sometimes).

hope this will work for u.
if it works, click yes

But how do I change the basic format back to default? This is an enormous
spreadsheet with tons of different formatting, so its a little bit
complicated selectively format everything back to the general number format.
I have been working with this spreadsheet for months and it was completely
normal, but the default number format changed shortly after I switched from
Excel 2003 to Excel 2007. There has to be some way to switch it back.
