Default sorting locked cells

I am trying to do this also. I am using 2003, and I check the box "Sort" when
protecting the worksheet, but I am not able to sort the sheet. I do not want
to unlock the cells to allow input. If I turn on AutoFilter and allow users
to use AutoFilter and Sort when I protect the sheet, I can use AutoFilter to
filter for specific items but not to Sort. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

if u r using office 2003, there is a way out there.

before protecting the sheet, kindly select the "sort" button there at the
time of giving password first time (protect sheet title)

click yes, if it works

can sort cells but cannot input data in certain cells?
