when I create a formula based on two other cells instead of the results
showing up in the cell....the formula shows. Even when I use the paste
function of that formula, the results shows in the paste function box, but
not in the cell.

From the sounds of it, that particular formula cell was probably
pre-formatted as text (unknown to you of course). Re-format that cell as
either general or number, then re-enter the formula to trigger/activate it.
You need to re-enter the formula, merely re-formatting it doesn't trigger.

If this happens in only one or a few cells, but not in others, the problem
is: the cell was formatted as Text before you entered the formula. To
remedy:

1. Select the cell.
2. Change the format to General or any appropriate non-text format.
3. Press F2, then press Enter for a non-array formula or ctrl-shift-Enter
for an array formula.

It is __not__ necessary for you to re-enter the formula from scratch. Using
F2 to "edit" the formula will work just fine.

Lest it be mis-understood, I should clarify that when I mentioned "re-enter"
the formula, I meant re-confirm it by clicking inside the formula bar, then
press ENTER. I didn't mean that you need to re key-in or re-type the formula,
heavens forbid!
