I use workspaces frequently but suddenly I started getting an alert (101586)
indicating 'This extension cannot be used with the selected file type. Change the file extension in the file name text box or select a different file type by changing the Save As type.' I have no extension on my file name (current) and the Save As type is set to Workspace. I tried adding .XLW to the file name but that didn't change anything. |

The save as workspace function has always worked, until I changed to Excel 2007. Now, about 2 months after switching to vs. 2007 I cannot save as a workspace. After reading a few of the posts on this and other websites, I tried saving the sheets as .xls files and then saving the workspace - same problem. Another problem with the sheets in .xlsx format is that you cannot save shared worksheets. The message says you have to unshare and then save. Useless. If anyone else has some ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. |

I found a cure for the problem I was having.
I was using vista 64, and installed the june excel update, but NOT the vista SP2 update , at 560+MB, it was a rather lengthy download. however, once SP2 was installed, the problem went away. I hope this helps. "dj" wrote: On Jun 20, 9:13 pm, danwill wrote: I'm having the same problem, anybody out there have an answer?
