Default Message: 'Cannot empty clipboard'

Using Excel 2000 I'm constantly getting the message "Cannot empty
clipboard" whenever I copy the contents of a cell to another. Even
happens directly after using Start Accessories Clipboard Viewer to
delete contents, after which there should presumably not BE any
clipboard contents!

Anyone know what causes this please? It's been happening spasmodically
for years, but seems to be much worse now.

Google turns up scores or hundreds of threads, many apparently
covering networked situations (involving Terminal Services, whatever
that is!) but I'm just a standalone user. And so far I've found no
reliable solution or method of isolating the cause.

Once Excel is open have you used Tools - Customise and then select Clipboard,
the Clipboard toolbar will open and then you can select the delete icon. This
will clear the Excel clipboard

Thanks Rob. Well, I don't want the Clipboard Toolbar displayed, but
next time this occurs I'll turn it on and try Delete as you suggest.

However, why would that work when emptying the entire clipboard using
Clipboard Viewer didn't?

Anyone else ever get this message?
