Default Pivot table setup

I need to setup a pivot table where I may see all expenses by vendor or by
year or by quarter or by month/year. This should help me to forecast for next
quarter and year. I should also be able to see totals by expense code (it
groups different types of vendors). I will also need to setup sort order.
My data table will have the following columns:
Vendor-Name, Invoice-Date, Invoice-Number, Description, Amount,
Expense-Code, Process-Date, Comments.

Is there a question in there somewhere? What you have sounds fine by me. The
only caution I would have is if you have more than 8,000 unique comments or
Invoice numbers then the pivot table will break down.

Default Pivot table setup

My attempts to setup this pivot table were not successful. Dollars don't get
totalled. It counts how many invoices I have instead of counting the money.
There are some wierd subtotal lines that I don't need at all. I just need $$
totals by vendor or category or month or year or quarter. How do I do all of
that?
I don't know how to attach the file that I used. Can I send you my files? It
is 57kb and has 55 invoice rows.
