Default Excel - using the control key

In Excel 2007 when I use the control key to select several individual cells,
I can barely (really not at all) see the cells in a different shade. This
makes it almost impossible to see which cells have been selected. Does
anyone know of a setting for this which will allow the difference in shading
to be more pronounced?
