Default Excel changes file extension on embedded object upon save

I have embedded another Excel document inside a Excel 2007 worksheet.
Whenever I save the worksheet, Excel changes the file name and extension to
some random number with a .tmp extension. The object is created from a file
and is embedded, not linked.

What causes this behavior and how can configure Excel to preserve the
original name and file extension for the embedded object?

Thx,
Brent

Disregard. I had the original file open while I was embedding the file into
another Excel document.
