Default Data validation - 2 items

Hi there,

I've been trying to use DV to provide additionally security on employee
vacation schedules using excel 2007. I have encountered 2 items to which I
can't seem to find any fix for.

1) One DV that works very well (via custom) is for the formula
R13=SUBTOTAL(109,D13:Q13) where D:Q are number of days taken off. What I am
finding is that when I enter numbers in cells D:Q, the validation no longer
works on cell R and anything can be entered in cell R - which was formerly
protected. Any thoughts???

2) I am trying to apply a DV to a cell with the formula
=VLOOKUP(A67,Master,3,FALSE), where Master is a name range on a different
tab, so that only this formula can be used in the cell. I enter the same
formula under DV-custom-source, but nothing seems to work and anything can be
entered in the cell.

If anoyone has thoughts or suggestions on either or both, I would definately
be thankful.

Much appreciation

Mike
