Default Opening .xlsx files in separate instances of Excel 2007

I've found that if I modify the folder options for .xlsx file types by adding
"%1" to the end of the Application used to perform action: string, I can
open Excel files stored on my drive in separate instances (great for dual
monitors). However, If I double click on multiple files in a SharePoint 2007
doc folder they will all open in the same instance. However, if I try to
open them by left click an €śEdit in Microsoft Office Excel€ť it opens the 1st
file OK but if I try to open another Excel file while the 1st is open I get
the message "Office OPen XML file xyz.xlsx cannot be opened because there are
problems withthe contents. The more Details button tells me that the file is
€ścorrupt and cannot be opened€ť. This is an error message from Word. Any
suggestions greatly appreciated?
