Default printing in excel does not print out same as on monitor

Sometines, when I print a work sheet, the format is not the same as I've set.
the figures are all large and go into the next column, mixing with those
already there. I have no idea how to rectify this. I've tried pasting and
copying to another sheet. I'm using excel 2003 and Vista
