Default Can I retrieve a file that had another filed 'saved' over it?

I was using a file as a template. One file was completed and I was creating
another. I accidentally hit "SAVE' instead of 'SAVED AS' and now have lost
the original file and its info. Is there a way to retrieve that original
file??

Hi,
unless you have a backup you cannot recover the original file

Do you have a backup version?

Did you send a copy to someone else? Maybe you have a copy in your sentbox or
the recipient can send it back?

Is the drive that contained the file backed up by your IT staff?

If, of course, you'd really been using a template (xlt) rather than a normal
file (xls), you wouldn't have fallen into that trap.

If you don't use templates in future, you'll hopefully remember the two
precautions:
1 Use the option to "always create a backup"
2 Do the Save As before you make any of the edits.
