Default AutoRecover 2007 not saving

I have AutoRecover clicked on in Excel 07, 5-minute saves. I had a power
blip crash, and lost three hours of work. I have the feature set In Word,
and when I re-open, Word asks me which version do I want ... the recovered
version, or the file version? I assume Excel should do the same. The save
file location is C:\Docs and it is also the deafult location. After reboot,
I searched every nook of the laptop ... nothing in ASD or TMP files, or
trash. Please explain what is setting to ensure AutoRecover is really
working.
