Default formula vs value

I wrote a vlookup formula in a cell and all i get is the formula, not the
value of the formula. How can I get the value to populate?

Default formula vs value

1. clear the cell
2. format the cell to General
3. re-enter the VLOOKUP formula

You get "the formula, not the value" of which cell: the cell with the
vlookup formula, or the cell that vlookup finds?

In either case, go to that cell and be sure that the formula starts
with "=".

A step easier.

Format the cell to General

F2 + ENTER to re-enter the formula.
