Default Backup of excel 2007 files.

In previous versions of office, I could set a file to make a backup when I
saved it. I cannot find a way to do this with Excel 2007 and though I have
the automatic backup set to save every ten minutes, my automatic backup
folder AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\ is always empty. Any solution?

AutoRecover is not "Automatic Backup" and the AutoRecover file is
deleted when the Excel file is closed.

Understood, but is there no way in Excel 2007 of setting a file to make a
backup when it is closed (in the same folder as the original file) as there
was in earlier versions of Excel?

I don't have Excel 2007, but
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...SaveBackupCopy
suggests it's similar to 2003 in that its's one of the options uder "Save
As":
"Automatically save a backup copy of a workbook
Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then point to the arrow next to Save
As.
Click the arrow next to Tools, and then click General Options.
Select the Always create backup check box. "

Unfortunately excel 2007 does not appear to have this option under "save as"
but I'll look further, thanks.

I seem to have found it at last, though the steps were not quite the same as
described in the document you quoted. Many thanks for your help.

Mind sharing? I have not seen anything other than the AutoRecover for 2007.

I feel very much a novice in the company of experts and you must forgive me
if I do not understand you. If you mean how did I find the way to force a
backup in excel 2007; it was to click the "save as" when the file was open,
then choose "other formats", then click "tools" at the bottom of that pane,
then choose "general options", then tick "always create backup" and, if you
wish, fill in password boxes etc. Probably I am telling a pro something he
knows perfectly well already. In that case, sorry!

Thank you. I certainly don't know nearly as much about Excel 2007 as
most here.
