Default Excel and Word 2007

Is there any way to return to the pull down menus? I am so word oriented and
those little icons (and words) being of various sizes and taking up different
amounts of space, are not logical to my eyes. I have been using this version
for MONTHS and although initially I thought it was going to be more
intuitive, it has become a source of constant frustration for me. I hate
using these programs now, and Excel used to always be fun.

I don't have an answer for you but I am so on-board with your comments. I
would consider myself to be a fairly sophisticated Excel user and I really
enjoyed financial modeling. But having used Excel 2007 for a couple of
months, I am still, constantly frustrated by even the most simple tasks.
Stuff that used to be easy now takes much more time.

It's apparent now that a couple of months ago I did update, but I did not
upgrade.
