Default Mail merge question

I have a mail merge routine that I only use once each year to print my
Christmas card envelopes. It pulls the addressing info from a spreadsheet
and it uses a Word document of the envelope with all of the address data
fields.

Here is the problem, when I tried to do the merge, everything worked OK
except one thing. Any ZIP code that had ZIP plus 4 came out as a Zero. Five
digit zip codes display/print perfectly. i.e. 34354 prints OK, but
45643-3456 results in a zero.

I made this routine many years ago when I was using a different version of
Excel. NOw I'm using Excel 2002 and have been for several years and it has
always worked fine before. I haven't changed anything that I'm aware of, but
I don't really remember how I built this way back when.

Anybody recognize this problem? Any suggestions?

thanks in advance
