Hello,
I have inadvertently deleted the association/link to my Excel programme and so I can no longer click onto my Excel icon on my desktop as what I will call the 'gateway' has been removed. I can still access and use Excel in the regular manner but I had to create a shortcut, which allows me to side-step the initial gateway. From my own research it would seem I need to create a new 'association' between the programme and the linkage into the programme from the gateway. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to how this can be done? I currently work on an archaic system, Microsoft Office 2000 Premium and I cannot restore what was deleted via the Folders Option in Control Panel. Thank you in advance for any information anyone can send my way. |

Using Windows Explorer, if you navigate through the Program Files
folder to Microsoft Office, then Office, you should be able to find an icon for Excel.exe (the .exe might not show, depending on your settings). If you right-click on this then you will have an option to Create Shortcut - click on it, and a shortcut icon will appear in the same folder (at the bottom of the files already showing). Then you can just drag the icon onto your desktop, if that's where you want it to be, and you can right-click on it to change the name just to Excel. Hope this helps.
