Default How do I show + or - in cell without affecting formula?

I want to show "+" or "-" in a cell but when I do, the formula doesn't
function correctly. I thought there was an action you could take, like
putting the + in (+) or something to make the formula ignore the symbol.

Use a custom format such as +#,##0;-#,##0
