Default How to export an Excel file to a serial port

I need to create a Set-up Screen in Excel wherein several variables are
entered into a desktop PC and exported to a remote microcontroller via the
serial port.

Also needed is the ability to import data from the microcontroller via the
serial port into Excel for processing and displaying.

The microcontroller has RS232 I/O capability. The desktop has XP operating
system and Excel is part of MS Office 2003.

Can you tell me how to establish two-way communications via the serial port
so I can generate and receive data in Excel?

Thanks,

William arnold
