In certain areas of the Excel file, if you click on one cell multiple cells
below get selected too; with out holding Shift down. |

Sounds like you've got cells merging - try selecting the cells and clicking
on the drop down menu to the right of the Merge icon on the 'Home' tab and select 'Unmerge cells' "Colie" wrote: In certain areas of the Excel file, if you click on one cell multiple cells below get selected too; with out holding Shift down. |

Did you hit F8 by mistake?

Did you try to toggle F8?

If the cells are merged then it will still look like one not many.

may be?
cell has some formula which is referenced to different cells, so if click on that it will select the referenced cells. only if edit directly in cell is unchecked.
