Default sum problem excel 03

I have two workbooks with the same sheet1.
Columns (k1:k634) contain the same transaction amounts (k1 is heading).
both columns' format are set to number with two decimals.
there are about four empty cells in the range
formula used is: =sum(k2:k634)
when I sum these columns two totally different values are returned?
how do I know which total is the correct total?

please help!
