Analysis ToolPak won't display properly in Excel 2007
I have installed Excel 2007 on my work laptop (Windows XP), but have kept all
Office 2003 products. When I install and activate the add-in for Analysis Toolpak, it shows as installed in Excel Options -- Add-Ins, but the Data Analysis group does not display under the Data tab. I am running Office 2007 on my home PC (Windows Vista) and it all works fine there. I am confident that I know how to install and activate the add-ins for Excel 2007. I think the problem is a result of still having the older version of Excel still installed, which is necessary for work. I need Excel 2007 on my laptop for a Stats class. The add-in works fine in Excel 2003. I have found multiple mentions of this problem, but none with a proposed solution. Example: http://groups.google.com/group/micro...67c9e322c9acb0 Is it possible that the add-in simply won't work with both versions installed? |

Try exiting Excel and comming back in. If that does not work try
uninstalling it through the Excel Options screen and then reinstalling it. It should appear on the far right of the Data tab. -- Thanks, Shane Devenshire "Mantithesis" wrote: I have installed Excel 2007 on my work laptop (Windows XP), but have kept all Office 2003 products. Shane, I've tried that multiple times as well as uninstalling and
reinstalling Excel 2007, and also downloading and running SP1 for Office 2007. No luck. I've also tried copying the add-in files to a different location and pointing to that instead. Still no luck. -- Mantithesis "ShaneDevenshire" wrote: Try exiting Excel and comming back in. If that does not work try uninstalling it through the Excel Options screen and then reinstalling it. Analysis ToolPak won't display properly in Excel 2007
Hi,
Since I can't duplicate the problem let's make sure you are installing it correctly: 1. Office Button, Excel Options, Add-Ins, 2. Beside Manage, choose Excel Add-Ins, and click Go 3. In the Add-Ins dialog box check Analysis toolPak You should not need to Browse, but if you do you probably need to make sure you find the 2007 version of the ATP. Just for fun try attaching Solver add-in and see if it appears on the Data tab in the Analysis group. -- Thanks, Shane Devenshire "Mantithesis" wrote: Shane, I've tried that multiple times as well as uninstalling and reinstalling Excel 2007, and also downloading and running SP1 for Office 2007. Analysis ToolPak won't display properly in Excel 2007
Shane,
If I just go through the steps to activate the Solver add-in, it gives me an error saying that it cannot find the file, although it shows the exact path to the file (that I know exists). But if I go to the solver.xlam file outside of Excel and double click, it opens Excel, and I can click Enable Macros a few times to get past security prompts. It must remove some code from that file having to do with VBA. But then I am able to activate the add-in. It actually shows up on the Ribbon under the Data tab at the far right! But unfortunately, clicking on the icon doesn't do anything. I tried doing the same with ATP, but it wouldn't work. So I installed other add-ins like I did for Solver, and I was eventually able to come back and get the Data Analysis icon to show alongside Solver in the Analysis group. But it would not work when clicked upon. So close, but still so far. Just thought of something. My company's IT Support advised me to install the Excel 2007 in a different folder than what it prompts to "Microsoft Office" so I created another folder "Microsoft Office 2007 add." Could this be the problem? They advised this method so it would be easier to uninstall after my class. -- Mantithesis "ShaneDevenshire" wrote: Hi, Since I can't duplicate the problem let's make sure you are installing it correctly: 1. Analysis ToolPak won't display properly in Excel 2007
Ron,
No one else in my class is having this problem, either. I found a few posts online claiming the same problem, so I know I'm not the only one. But I must be doing something wrong or I have a unique set up that is causing this. Thanks for replying. -- Mantithesis "Ron de Bruin" wrote: Hi Mantithesis Is it possible that the add-in simply won't work with both versions installed? Analysis ToolPak won't display properly in Excel 2007
Would you try this and see what happens? First in Excel 2007 unselect all
add-ins. Then do a File, Open and manually open ATPVBAEN.XLAM (or the local name if you're not using an English version) in the \Office12\Library\Analysis folder under your Office 2007 installation. Opening this file should open the ATP features and automatically open FUNCRES.XLAM which has the ribbonx in it that creates the Data Analysis group on the Data tab. I would think there is no way you could open this file and not get the Data Analysis group on your Data tab. I say that because I don't think there is a way to block ribbonx from loading when it is in a file. -- Jim "Mantithesis" wrote in message ... |I had a couple weeks ago, but I tried it again anyway. Analysis ToolPak won't display properly in Excel 2007
Jim,
I tried that, and it gave me an error that said Excel found unreadable content and asked if I wanted to recover the contents of the workbook. I clikced Yes and it said it removed part /xl/vbaProject.bin part. (VBA). It did not get the Analysis group to show. However, if I open FUNCRES.XLAM also, it will display the Analysis tab and the Data Analysis icon. But the icon is dead, it does nothing. I have tried many, many variations of this (opening other combinations of files in the Library) and I can only get this close. Once I close Excel, all this is lost and I have to start over when I reopen. Similarly, I can get Solver to show like this, but it is a dead icon also. The error mentioned above is too high level for me. Is it meaningful to you? Seems like we're close, but somethig is still wrong. Sorry for the delay. This problem is like a thorn in my side that I couldn't let go of, and I've spent hours trying to solve. I decided earlier in the week to let it go, and I missed the email notifying me that you had posted. I'd really appreciate another reply if the error is meaningful. Thanks for your time, -- Mantithesis "Jim Rech" wrote: Would you try this and see what happens? First in Excel 2007 unselect all add-ins.
