Default Excel file corrupted when saved or retrieved over network

I am trying to retrieve an Excel 2007 workbook on my lap top from my desk
top. The file is fine when accessed on the desk top but comes up corrupted
when retrieved over the home network or on a memory stick on the lap top. A
message box saying "Excel was able to open the file by repairing or removing
the unreadable content - this workbook has lost its VBA Project, ActiveX
Controls and any programmability related features"
Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what the cure is.
My OS is Vista Home Premium on both machines.

Thanks Sheeloo, but I can't send this particular file, actually the file
transfers over fine it just gets there with all macros removed. I probably
wasn't clear in my original post. It must have something to do with the new
security features of 2007, which I'm finding increasingly frustrating. Any
ideas?
