Default Keeping source formatting from a referenced cell.

I have a report that I reference definitions from a different worksheet
within the report. On the definition sheet, I have the word being defined in
bold and the actual definition non-bold. However when I reference it from
another worksheet excel only allows me to have it all bold or no bold. I've
tried to "keep source formatting" to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
