Default Why is hyperlink function inactive sometimes?

I've noticed that in some excel files the hyperlink function is active, but
in other files it is not active. I haven't been able to figure out why some
files work and some don't. Is there some sort of worksheet protection
feature that allows some editing but does not allow hyperlinks?

Thanks

You are correct! Say you click on a cell and type
http://www.cnn.com
and you want the link to be "clickable. BEFORE typing the hyperlink:

Tools Options Spelling AutoCorrect AutoFormat as you type and
check the Internet & Newwork paths checkbox.

A guy I work with found what my issue was. The hyperlink function is not
active when the "Share Workbook" function is enabled. Disabling this feature
allows hyperlinks to be inserted.

Thanks
