Thanks Joel,
The series of numbers I wanted is only 20 numbers and with the total of 1,000,000 "Joel" wrote: put the formula in B1 =sum($A:$A) then put in A1 1000 and in A2 2000. Highlight cells A1 and A2. Thenb grap with mouse the little square box in the lower right corner of the highl;ight area and pulldown the box in column A. The formula in B1 should give you the total.
