We get the message below when working in compatibility mode, and the view of
the file and excel icons and commands corrupts.

"Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. choose less data
or close other"

We found nothing on the Microsoft site other than to save as xlsx format,
but we need to share the workbooks with Office 2003 users too.

Any ideas?

You can save it as an *.xlsx file and still allow users with Excel 2003 to
open it. There is a compatibility pack for Office 2003/XP that allows you to
open Office 2007 files. You can download it he
