Default memory problem in Excel 2007

..When working in Excel 2007 and e.g. deleting coloumns or doing vlookups etc
Excel takes very long to action the request. Is there any other way to
overcome this as sometimes bombs system out.

It may? have to do with your VLookup range being very large. sample
formulae?
