Hi,
I am using Excel 07 and trying to format a gradebook that will calculate grade percentages. For example: Grade Total % out of 65 63 ________ So, in the blank area, I do the formula: =F3/65 (F3 being the cell that says 63) The formula just stays there and doesn't calculate. I have tried clicking on 'calculate now' and such, but no luck. I have also tried other formulas, and nothing happens. I am sure this is just a stupid mistake on my part, but could someone please help? |

Does this happen in any cell? Say you type =F3+1 in cell Z1.
If YES - sound like you have view formulas on; use CTRL+` (key next to !/1 on top row) to switch this off If NO - then maybe the cell is formatted text; delete formula, reformat cell to General, retype formula best wishes (tell us what happens) -- Bernard V Liengme Microsoft Excel MVP http://people.stfx.ca/bliengme remove caps from email "Jaime" wrote in message ... Hi Bernard,
Thank you so much!! I had the cells I was working with formatted differently than the rest of the grade book. I reformatted all the cells to 'general' and now the formulas work like a charm! Did you follow Bernard's second advice?
< then maybe the cell is formatted text; delete formula, reformat cell to General, retype formula Don't forget to retype (F2, ENTER); just changing the format is not enough. -- Kind regards, Niek Otten Microsoft MVP - Excel "Sarge" wrote in message ...
