Default Saving file without empty cells

Inevitably when you are working in Excel, Excel will think cells are filled
when in fact you have deleted the contents. If I do a End/Home, the cursor is
on IA523. How do I save the file without including the rows and columns that
are now blank?

This became a problem when a macro opens the file and tries to move columns
left and an error message came up that Excel could not move columns off the
spreadsheet.
