Default after saving excel 2003 file, functions do not update anymore

When I open Excel and make a SUM of several cells, the SUM is displayed and
calculated correctly. If I save the file and re-open it and change any value
of one of the cells in the SULM, the result stays the same, the SUM is not
recalculated. If I create a new SUM in this Excel file, the result returns
ZERO. Calculation is set to AUTOMATIC, F9 does not change this.

Default after saving excel 2003 file, functions do not update anymore

Hi Niek,

I have checked it out but none of the solutions worked for me. I have Excel
2003 SP3 installed.

I would like to add that the issue only occurs after I close and re-open the
excel sheet. If I open an new one, make a sum and change the cells, the sum
gets calculated correctly. If I save but not close the sheet, the same is
true...the sum is calculated correctly. Only after I close and reopen the
file, the sum is not updated and a new sum is always ZERO.

Also, when I tried to apply the 'replace "=" with "=" solution ALL my sum
returned ZERO, also those that I cretaed initially.

Thx for the reply...

Niek,

Another thing I noticed. When I create a new sheet and make a SUM of a
couple of cells, the status bar is as expected. If I svae the file the status
bar remains the same. If I then close and re-open the sheet and chaneg any of
the values that make up the SUM and press ENTER, the statyus bar shows
CALCULATE and it keeps showing that. So that's the big difference between
initial state and re-opened state. Changing AUTO to MANUAL calculation does
not change the status bar.

Niek,

I already hit that page. None of it applies to my issue. I hav AUTo
calcualtion turned on, no iteration and if I press F9 or CTRL-ALT F9 or
whatever F9 nothing changes. It just keeps on showing calculate in the status
bar.

If I reinstall Excel, create a new sheet and save/close it. The first time I
re-open it, it still works as it should. It is only by the second time I open
it these issues appear. From then on forward they appear whenever I re-open a
newly created sheet.
