Default Excel shared workbook error only comes up on my system

When I open a shared workbook on my system I get the following error message:

"File is locked. In order to save changes to the file, you can either close
the file before making any changes and
then re-open it, use Save As (File menu) to save the file using another
filename, or turn off Shared Workbooks and then save the file."

This file has links to many other files and has been set up as a shared
workbook. When others on the network open the file, there is no problem. Only
when I open it (and I'm the creator of this file) do I seem to have problems.

Please advise.

Thanks!
