Excel specifications states that you can have up to 32,767 characters in a cell,
However, only 1024 will show or be printed. You can add an Alt + Enter linefeed every 100 or so characters to extend this limit. Also try dropping the font size down. Merging two cells does not change the limit. All you have is a larger cell with the same limits as a single cell.
