Default how do i filter a list greater than 1000 rows

I have used Excel spreadsheet as a database for recording Individual ID and
comparative performance of a cattle herd to great advantage utilising Data
Filter for some time. Now I cannot filter the newest entries, am I limited to
a set number of rows? Perhaps I have overlooked something simple, Any
solutions or suggestions Please!
