Default Excel 2003 File Won't Open

Hi:

I'm using Excel 2003 Student and Teacher Edition. I have all the updates
installed for it. I use MS Windows XP Pro as my OS. Everytime I open my excel
files, files wouldn't open I have to open a blank excel file and open the
document that way. Is their a way to just double click on the file and open
it instead of opening it through a blank excel file?

Thank You
