Excel has her own secret opinion on which resources that's available and
what they are to be used for. It is a true mystery and afaik undocumented.
My experience is that graphical memory is drained first and that I can do
little about it except demanding less.

Best wishes Harald

I have colored tabs and quite a bit of colored cells. If I got rid of the
color, would that free up graphic memory?

As stated; Mystery. But my unstatistical impressions: Zoom < 100% is the
worst. Tons of controls on a worksheet and umpteen open windows are also
troublesome. And multiple fonts.

Best wishes Harald

If you're going to experiment, experiment against a copy of your workbook.

If it works, you'll be happy. If it doesn't work, you've still got the workbook
in its original condition (albeit troublesome!).

Hi Karen
What is the task that Excel won't complete ??
How big is the workbook you are using ?? If it contains graphics or lots of
external links it will use a lot of resources.
Also try closing all other applications that are not required and see if
Excel will complete the task.

Hi
Excel won't let me add another page to my workbook. At times it also gives
me the same message when I am trying to open another workbook. The main
workbook that I use is approxiately 50 pages -- no graphics or external
links. At the same time I have WordPerfect, Quickbooks, and Outlook open.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions, and I will check to see where Zoom is
set.
